Clay just got a lot more expensive. Axios Pro reports the eight year old New York startup is raising a new round led by Wellington Management at a seven billion dollar pre-money valuation. A year ago Clay was worth three point one billion. Six months ago, five billion. Now seven, more than double in about twelve months, on numbers Clay has not confirmed on the record. What does Clay actually do? It builds AI agents that automate sales prospecting, finding leads, cleaning contact data, and writing outreach, the grunt work a rep used to handle by hand. Its customer list is the real tell. OpenAI and Anthropic use it, companies that build AI for a living. Investors are betting AI finally breaks open a slow moving category.
