DeepSeek is closing a seven point four billion dollar round that values the company near seventy four billion dollars, up from about fifty two billion just two months ago. That's pre-IPO pricing, because DeepSeek is lining up a listing on Shanghai's STAR Market as early as twenty twenty seven. The investor terms are the real story. Tencent, J D dot com, and CATL reportedly agreed to a five year lockup with zero voting rights, while China's National AI fund gets voting rights with no lockup at all. That split tells you who's steering. Founder Liang Wenfeng personally put in three billion dollars of his own money in the last round. This valuation puts DeepSeek in the same numeric conversation as OpenAI and Anthropic, even though it's a much smaller company by revenue.
