A dark web marketplace just started selling scans of 153 million driver's licenses, and researchers traced them straight back to IDScan.net, the identity verification company behind the counter at Hertz, Target, FedEx and thousands of dispensaries. Security journalist Brian Krebs broke the story September 1st, matching leaked timestamps to real Hertz rental scans. The trove also includes 10 million ID cards and 3 million travel documents. Even the defense secretary's license turned up, listed for a hundred dollars. The FBI's New Orleans office opened an investigation. IDScan still hasn't confirmed anything happened.
