LEGO's 1,911-piece PlayStation set, explained.

PlayStation and LEGO just revealed a brick built replica of the original nineteen ninety four console, and it goes up for order October first. The set is one thousand, nine hundred eleven pieces, about twenty six centimeters wide, with a pluggable controller and working power and open buttons. The clever part is what's hidden inside. Two removable dioramas: one for Gran Turismo, with a miniature circuit and scaled down cars, and one for Ape Escape, where the monkey's helmet light swaps between blue and red. Pull them out and you've basically got three small builds in one box. It's priced at one hundred seventy nine dollars, cheaper than LEGO's earlier Nintendo and Atari console sets, and it ships through PlayStation Direct before general LEGO stores pick it up on October fourth. Thirty years after the PS1 launched, Sony finally gave it the brick treatment its rivals got years ago.
