how good is Gemini 3.6 Flash at coding?
Gemini 3.6 Flash sits at #15 of 17 ranked models, posting 79.6% on SWE-bench Verified — 16.6 points behind #1 GPT-5.6 Sol.
Score provenance: Independent (vals.ai, mini-swe-agent bash-only harness): SWE-bench Verified 79.60% ±1.80. Verified Jul 23, 2026 — vals.ai had not run it at our Jul 22 check, two days after launch, and it enters the board at 15th, 0.8 points above the older Gemini 3.5 Flash (78.8%). That gap is well inside the combined error bars (~0.3 sigma), so read the two Flash tiers as a statistical tie on coding, not an upgrade. Google published no SWE-bench Verified score of its own; its launch claims were DeepSWE 49% (up from 37%) and OSWorld-Verified 83.0% (up from 78.4%), which we could not rank on. Price: Google list $1.50/$7.50 per 1M, cheaper on output than 3.5 Flash at $9.
what does Gemini 3.6 Flash cost?
$1.50 per 1M input tokens and $7.50 per 1M output — #7 cheapest of the 16 models we track. Coding workloads are output-heavy, so weight the output rate when budgeting. Run your own volume through the AI API cost calculator for a monthly estimate.
