Three of the largest PC makers have started putting Chinese memory in their laptops. H P, Asus and Acer have qualified DRAM from ChangXin Memory Technologies, and they are shipping it in a handful of notebook models sold outside the United States. None of them announced it. Now, the reason is not price. This is the detail most coverage skips. C X M T memory is not cheaper than Samsung. It is simply available. AI data centre buildouts are taking around seventy percent of all memory production this year, DRAM costs have tripled in eighteen months, and the PC market is forecast to shrink more than eleven percent, not on weak demand but on parts nobody can buy. Meanwhile seven US senators have given Apple until August twenty first to promise it will never do the same thing.
