Infineon just announced it's acquiring C2i Semiconductors, a startup out of Bengaluru that builds software-defined multiphase controllers, the chips that regulate power all the way from the grid down to the processor core. Here's why that matters. A top-end AI accelerator can draw over a kilowatt, and that load swings from idle to full throttle in microseconds. Old fixed-function voltage regulators can't react fast enough, so you either waste power as heat or risk a voltage crash that kills a training run. C2i's tech adapts in real time. The deal closes in Q3 twenty twenty six, terms undisclosed. This is a small acquisition with a big signal: as AI infrastructure scales, power delivery is becoming just as critical a bottleneck as the chips themselves.
