Jellyfin just shipped version 12.0, and the first thing you will notice is the number itself. They dropped the leading ten. What would have been 10.12 is just 12.0 now. Underneath that, this is the polish pass on last year's backend rewrite. Faster libraries, native book and comic support, and per library recommendations. But here is the part that matters if you are running this at home. The database schema changes again, and it gets rewritten the moment you boot into 12.0.

The release notes call a full backup the only way back. Old plugins need a rebuild for dot NET 10. And the legacy Emby style API routes are gone for good, so ancient clients just stop connecting. If you are upgrading, back up first. Every single time.
